ABOUT QUI JAMES, ESQ.

Qui James is a Florida and Georgia-barred attorney and certified sports agent, dedicated to providing legal counsel to entrepreneurs, executives, athletes, and creatives. Her practice focuses on business law, intellectual property, and athlete representation, with a clear mission: to empower clients through legal clarity, thoughtful strategy, and long-term protection.
Her career is grounded in both business and law. After earning a degree in Business Administration from Howard University, Qui developed a deep appreciation for how legal structures drive business success. That insight led her to pursue law as a means of protecting what people build — their ventures, their brands, and their value.
While attending the University of the District of Columbia’s David A. Clarke School of Law, she learned to blend her legal training with her business acumen through her work in the Community Development Clinic—advising non-profits, collectives, and entrepreneurs from formation through growth. She helped mission-driven organizations navigate legal complexities, establish strong governance, and build operational foundations designed for sustainability.
Her understanding of how law supports business strategy deepened through her work with several firms. At Cohen & Grossman, she gained experience in employment law while contributing to client lifecycle management and internal operations—refining her ability to align legal services with organizational goals. At Morgan & Morgan, she observed how large-scale firms operate across high volumes, strengthening her capacity to assess risk, streamline processes, and support legal delivery within a national business model.
ABOUT

Her career reached a pivotal moment at the NFL’s legal department, where she supported intellectual property and corporate law initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Managing brand protection, licensing, and compliance at the league level gave her firsthand experience with the legal infrastructure of professional sports and sharpened her ability to assess legal risk in fast-moving, high-stakes environments.
That experience propelled her into the Sports Law & Policy Clinic, where she deepened her expertise in contract drafting, regulatory strategy, and policy reform. At a time when NIL reform was still theoretical, Qui led forward-looking research on the NCAA’s regulatory framework, conducted comparative analysis across state legislation, and developed legal models for collegiate athlete compensation. Her ability to anticipate—and articulate—the shift toward athlete branding and commercial rights positioned her as an early voice in a space that would soon redefine the sports industry.
In 2021, Qui co-founded ONE Sports alongside NFL Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, offering legal and strategic counsel to athletes navigating contracts, endorsements, and emerging NIL opportunities. As a certified agent with both the NBA and the NCAA, she continues to advocate for athletes at every stage of their careers—helping them protect their name, grow their brand, and secure their future beyond the game.
Whether advising a first-time founder or a professional athlete, Qui is trusted for her clarity, precision, and unwavering commitment to protecting what her clients have worked hard to build.
